Hello and welcome! I’m Chloe Emiabata the Illustrator and mixed media Artist behind Curios and Bibelots. I’m based in Ipswich, Suffolk.
In my mind Curios and Bibelots is a little world for Animation, Illustration and Textile Characters to come together and bimble around hopefully spreading joy, whimsy and magic to adults and children alike.
Heavily influenced by our familial love of cats many of the characters of Bibelots and Curios are of the feline variety. Also because I have global aphantasia I find sticking to consistent characters is a great aid in being creative despite the inability to callback visual, auditory or sensory stimuli.
My specialist interests are foraging, vintage children’s books and toys, textures and patterns that evoke nostalgia, music that demands to be danced to and reading comics.
I’m from a diverse background of agnostic punks and born again Christian’s, part Nigerian, part German, part British, I’m a wanna be pagan who believes we are all part of nature and it’s our duty and right to celebrate, protect and nurture all that lives within it from mini-beasts to all the grown-up humans that didn’t get to be themselves as children, let’s heal / our inner human cubs together!
(And here are our two cat brothers Pyewackett and Jarmarra who get to be themselves everyday!)
